My Christmas pet peeve

This is the season to be kind and giving and forgiving, and generally, I am (I like to think anyway:)If you disagree, SHHHHHH!!!). But one pet peeve that rears its head at this time of year concerns people who whinge about "having" to spend Christmas with their families.

Yes, I understand that families have their problems, and some worse than others. But they're still FAMILY. Unless they've done something horrendous that's scarred you for life, and seeing them is clinically traumatizing, this is the time to put aside your differences and enjoy them. And to be glad that you have them, and that you get to spend time with them. Not to continue to hold grudges and have a bad attitude, and join the throngs that complain about another Christmas at home.

Put these people far far away from their families, where they can't see them or spend time with them. . . and I'm willing to bet the farm* that the majority of them will be singing a different tune.

There! It's out now! My Christmas pet peeve!

Merry Christmas all!!

*I don't actually have a farm. . . but I'm willing to bet Weds instead, if you prefer. And you know he's worth more than any farm to me. . . and to Okia, his real owner--who I'm sure wouldn't appreciate me using her cat as a pawn in my betting!

That really touched me! Do you know what? I am going to unlock the cellar and let Grandma up for Christmas dinner!

Only joking! Grandma ran off with the school Head Mistress in 1984, I meant GrandPA.

A nice little peeve you have there, I quiet agree with you.

Off to the pub now so byeeeeeeeeeee

Cellar or basement? Path or sidewalk, tomAto or tomaRto? I get so confused in my old age!

LOL! Nice of you to let her out. About the words. . . who knows? I'm as confused as, if not more than, you are. And as long as we're confused--when do people actually eat "Christmas dinner?" At lunch time? Supper time? in between? Before? After?

And are you trekking around the UK? My sitemeter shows you as logging in from all over. Yesterday it was Lewisham. Today it's Solihull!

It intrigues me how flesh and blood can hold grudges... One of the most rewarding relationships a person can have is family. Jesus gave me and my siblings a gift and that is my mother and fathers life.

it's kind of like someone complaining that they are too heavy, when they are the lightest one in the room. But, this is humanity more often than not... we forget the "blessing side" of things and focus on what we don't have.

Do you know, I have checked my site meter and I always thought I had lots of fans logging on from all over the UK but it's my IP number, this must mean that I am a no good loser with no friends .....Mother was right after all!

Goodnight, I am off to cuddle my washing machine....at least she loves me.

Wonderful thoughts.

By the way, I don't have a farm either. But I wouldn't mind having one. I've heard there are flower farms in California. That would be nice.

Merry Christmas.

You're right about spending time with family around the holidays, or any other day for that matter. When they're gone you'll miss them, and the older people in particular are your best link to your past. Most of the people who are gone now took a lot of stories and information with them that we won't find anywhere else.

Hope you and yours have a happy holiday and a great New Year.
