An aside. . .an article on morphine scarcity in Sierra Leone

Note: Will return to photos of my trip in the next post

I across this article and watched this slideshow in today's International Herald Tribune, and wanted to share it.

*If anyone read the earlier version of this post, I apologize. I deleted it because it was basically a rant (of sorts) and, while in keeping with my whole malcontent theme these days, there are good reasons behind why I am where I am right now. And when God decides the time and circumstances are right, I will hopefully be able to do the kind of work this reporter has done. But in the meantime, I will stay here and appreciate and enjoy my life as it is.

It's hard being the kind of individual who is compelled to initiate change in the world, mainly because it's such a large task, which may be insurmountable. I believe the world is run by all the wrong people, many of them are simply wicked and greedy, and whenever you go up against them you're almost certain to lose because they've made all the rules in their favor. But there is a certain degree of freedom in growing older. So long as you believe you've done the right things each day you shouldn't feel bad about living well. No doubt, a lot of people who came before you made great sacrifices so that you wouldn't have to.

Outlaw, I left your comment because I agree with you (though I'm slightly more optimistic about the state of the world:)) But if you don't think this applies to my modified post, then fee free to delete.

Ini - thanks for leaving it. It still applies, although, you're right about the optimism. It's me, not them. Cynicism is another side effect of getting older, LOL!

Something is wrong with my browser and I cannot view the slide show but I read the report and those figures are staggering as to what percentage of morhine is used by different countries. Those poor poor people who have to suffer.

Men still killing men, we have not evolved much and hostpitals in the UK spening $150,000 on a polished rock to go outside the entrance when they cannot even afford to run the wards, what a mad planet this is.
